Mark L. Van Valkenburgh has been practicing law in Central Florida since 1995. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and is certified as a Circuit Civil Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court and for all civil matters in the United States District Court for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. During his career he has litigated a wide variety of disputes including, but not limited to employment, real estate, and commercial disputes, won significant jury trials representing plaintiffs and defendants, and been involved in hundreds of mediations.
In addition to his successful work as a mediator, Mr. Van Valkenburgh conMedtinues to engage in employment law consulting and litigation. Mr. Van Valkenburgh also teaches Employment Law as well as the the art of negotiation to students at the Barry University College of Law in a class titled “Interviewing, Counseling and Negotiation.” He has been named one of “Orlando’s Top Lawyers” by Orlando Life Magazine and as a “Top Rated Lawyer in Labor & Employment Law” by Fortune and the American Lawyer.
During his legal career, Mr. Van Valkenburgh served on the Executive Board of the First Central Florida Inns of Court, was named outstanding committee chairperson by the Orange County Bar Association and was honored by the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce as Leadership Winter Park’s Volunteer of the Year. He has served his community by volunteering on Boards for the Winter Park Public Library (Chair), Leadership Winter Park (Chair), the City of Winter Park’s Board of Adjustments (Vice-Chair) and Charter Review Commission, and on the Vestry of All Saints Church.
Mr. Van Valkenburgh graduated fifth out of a law school class of one hundred seventy-eight. While in school he was twice named one of only two New England Scholars and earned “book” awards in Business Organizations and Sales. He also served as Case and Notes Editor of the New England Law Review.
